Week in brief 1-7 February 2016
1 February, Strasbourg – The Group of States against Corruption of the Council of Europe (GRECO) will publish its report on Bulgaria.
1 February, Paris – The annual co-ordination meeting of the European Local Democracy Week (ELDW) will assess last year’s edition, exchange experiences as well as good practices, and discuss the main theme and possible developments for the upcoming 2016 edition.
2 February, Strasbourg – Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will deliver a keynote speech at the high-level seminar organised by the Dutch authorities under the EU chairmanship “EU fundamental values, immigration and integration: a shared responsibility” and meet Bert Koenders, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands in the margins of the event.
Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni will also attend the seminar.
2 February, Strasbourg – Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will meet Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam.
2 February, Strasbourg – Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will meet Michael O’Flaherty, the newly appointed Director of the European Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA).
2 February, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 16 judgments concerning Austria, Belgium, Georgia, Hungary, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland and Turkey.

2-4 February, Chisinau – The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities will organise a workshop on “Mayors, leaders for change”. It will bring together local elected representatives and will focuses on local values and ethical behaviours, providing mayors with the skills to plan effectively and strategically, involving relevant stakeholders and fostering practice of citizen participation.
3 February, Strasbourg – Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will meet Gernot Erler, Special Representative of the German Federal Government for the German OSCE Chairmanship.
4 February, Strasbourg – Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland and Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni will meet Gilbert Saboya Sunyé, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Andorra.
4 February, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 32 judgments and/or decisions concerning Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

4 February, Strasbourg (Palais de l’Europe) – Nearly 1900 pupils from 47 schools are expected to participate in the 2nd edition of the Open Doors event designed to engage school children to the values of the Council of Europe.
4 February, Strasbourg – The Council of Europe’s expert group against human trafficking (GRETA) will publish the report on its most recent evaluation visit to Croatia.
